چکیده
Abstract Introduction Conserved early visual pathways set perception and sleep consolidation timing, but the associations between functional vision are not well established. Here, we determine these in a nationally-recruited adult cohort contrast them with health outcome covariates. Methods Data were drawn from 5973 adults aged 20 to 85 years (M=41.32, SD=21.82), obtained US National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2005-2006 2007-2008 cohorts. Adults reported demographics, duration, vision, body size (body mass index; BMI), depression (Patient Questionnaire-9), social support information. Spearman’s rank correlations performed association self-reported measures of typical nightly duration. To influence covariates thought moderate outcomes on this association, ordinal logistic regression was as predictor ‘general eyesight condition’ or ‘vision limiting activities’ dependent variables; age, BMI, depression, emotional Results Typical duration correlated very weakly general condition (r=-.07, p<.001), activities (r=-.03, p=.001), worry (r=-.09, difficulty reading newsprint (r=-.06, discriminating objects p=.007). For condition, (exponentiated) odds ratios minorly improved increasing (B=.93, effects eclipsed by psychosocial factors such PHQ-9 score (B=1.11, p<.001) availability (B=.71, while ageing had minor effect (B=1.02, BMI did associate (p=.29). activities; influenced (p=.086), (B=1.13, (B=0.63, meaningfully enhanced ratios, (B=1.03, (B=1.01, p=.009). Conclusion Despite shared sensory pathways, neuroprotective appear limited. Unlike for many disorders, deficits. Psychosocial mechanisms strongest beneficial should be given more consideration during optometric care. Support (if any) BBRF NARSAD (#28056). KTEF Career Starter (#NNO). NAM Catalyst (#2000012740).
